High School Yearlong Mentoring
Students are The greatest untapped resource!
Cultivating a supportive community fosters respectful relationships is a fantastic goal, but it doesn't JUST happen. Intentional planning, protocols, and content are the key. From our system and structure, to our foundational training, everything has been designed to meet the ever-changing needs of today's teenage learners.
While attendance, behavior, and graduation rates are important outcomes, this process also focuses on the whole child, fulfilling the social and emotional needs of todays youth. Many concerns from schools are character-based. Quiet often, student mentors hear the same concerns from their mentees. "This class does not matter, it is only freshman year." "I don't want to go to school, did you see what they posted about me online?" "No one cares if I am here"
Schools are working overtime to meet expectations on testing, data, and safety. We can help you expand the leadership capacity of your school through the power of peer influence. A proven standards based model will implement a system aligned with ASCA standards and bring best practices resulting in both mastery (best work) while being relational (best self).
Students mentoring students, students leading students
Supporting Your Entire Freshman Class
Help them realize the importance of a successful first year
9th grade is an important year that leads up to graduation since 25% of freshman fail to graduate on time. We designed our HS curriculum and Tier II academic initiative to support first year students to succeed in year one.
You're greatest advocates are your mentors. Through formal and informal weekly connections, Mentors are given a structure that allows them to check in with their mentees, review their progress in school, and encourage their personal growth. Forming these relationships leads to meaningful connections that challenge mentees to assess their study habits, time management, talk through peer pressure vs. peer influence, develop coping skills for feelings of self doubt, and creating a sense of community in their classrooms.
Supporting 21 Century Learners ONline & Onsite
Ignite's curriculum has been expanded to a dual-learning online standards-based model, aligning with ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success National Standards Schools also choose a C.T.E. Standards Learning framework course aligned with the dual learning system.
Mentors, executives, and staff advisors each have their own collection of training and coaching instructional videos and resources. Mentees and advisories also have assessments, reflections, and resources that help keep track of their personal growth and provide valuable feedback for the mentor team along the way. With quizzes to track skill growth and mentor connections, our online academy works seamlessly with our train the trainer structure. This allows all training to be done by your student executive mentors!
Train online, delivery in the classroom
foundational training. We bring the training to you!
Our focus is to expand the leadership capacity of your school by training a new, untraditional cross section of students that are selected with equity and diversity.
There are 3 roles in our system and each role has their own kick off training and online syllabus:
1. Staff Advisors
2. Executive Mentors
3. Student Mentors
Training the entire team helps transition students into their role and teaches them the core skills they need to sustain themselves throughout the school year. Learning our training model, M2M facilitation structure, and accessing their online training profiles are just a few of the components. Help your team gain, retain, and reciprocate this for every mentee in your school.
This training kick off is customized to building goals and becomes a tradition
A Team that trains together, stays together
spring transitions & orientation
Imagine working with your incoming freshman before their 8th grade summer. Plan to do more than a tour! Made up of a series of visits and events, this process will ease anxiety, squelch myths, and build a confident expectation in the incoming class.
Mentees learn from experienced role models, how to combat personal fears, establish academic habits for a successful first year, and make choices now that will impact their pathway to graduation.
Yearlong M2m (mentor to mentee)
Its not easy moving to a bigger building with 6 different teachers, 6 different expectations, and in result, 6 different cultures. The awkward adolescent years are hard enough with all the internal and external changes happening. Our yearlong system and structure can help provide a consistent path on which they can stay connected, explore, and grow.
With our yearlong program, every single mentee is assigned to a yearlong mentor on a 1:5 ratio. Facilitating bi-weekly and monthly lessons, your mentors will partner alongside your teachers to help create a structured, safer learning environment that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all your freshman.
We provide all the coaching, framework, foundational training, online learning system, curriculum, and tier 2 academic initiative that helps you get results through student agency.
