The Foundation to a Sustainable Student Led Mentoring System

Student Owned, Student Led

Built on Ignite's Servant Leadership Model, the entire program is ran by students, for students. Our focus is to expand the leadership capacity of your school by training a new, untraditional cross section of students that are selected by equity and diversity. This system of accountability is a tradition that is passed on from generation to generation.

As long as there are students that were raised in the Ignite family, you have a system that will keep getting results.

Blended Learning System

Our curriculum features lessons that were intentionally designed to meet the academic, social, emotional, and digital citizenship needs of our youth.   Our lessons are more then just an activity on paper. Every Ignite Advisor, Executive Mentor, and Mentor have their own personal account in the online train the trainer system that tracks their completion towards a certificate of mastery. Each lesson was carefully crafted to include the 4 components of Ignite's Mentoring rubric so that mentors develop into lifelong leaders and mentees receive the support they need to have a successful first year.

Each lesson is a package that includes a written lesson plan, instructional coaching video, footage of students modeling the entire process, quizzes, Cornell notes, supporting worksheets, and feedback forms.  Advisors, Executive Mentors, and Mentors all have their own collection of videos to support them so that your entire incoming class and first year students benefit from the Ignite System.

Topics range from study skills, importance of GPA, strategies to get ahead, as well as gossip and drama and how to turn peer pressure into peer influence.

Our train the trainer system includes online content that runs like a flipped model classroom!

We Build Our Structure Within Your Existing Calendar

Our structure ensures that your Ignite Advisors, Executive Mentors, and Mentors receive the training they need to feel confident learning, practicing, and facilitating each of their roles. When Lessons are delivered your mentees benefit from the experiential learning process and the relationship they build with their mentor. It is during these connections, the lessons are used as vehicles to deeper discussions and self discovery.

Our customization and flexibility allows us to align and strengthen other school initiatives like AVID, PBIS, Boomerang Projects, Restorative Justice, Character Counts, and other student programs that already exist in your building.  We partner with Administration to create a customized, structured calendar in which the Ignite System can get you results in year one.

Before the school year ends, new mentors are selected and attend Ignite Kick Off Training with returning mentors. Chances are, new mentors were inspired mentees!  When new student mentors train with returing mentors, they learn their role very quickly and the tradition is passed down once again. The next step? Summer Foundational training!
