Ignite Character, our elementary school initiative, showcases Ignite Student Ambassadors. Ambassadors are students of all ages who are identified as potential leaders in your building. These students work in small groups to teach their peers lessons on character building. Each one is designed to take virtues such as Respect, Diversity, Trust, Leadership and Caring and put them into action. Ignite Character brings a fresh perspective to learning and empowers students to be their best selves.
Ambassadors will be trained in:
- Leadership skills and strategies
- Facilitation skills
- Presenting skills - using multiple learning styles
- Group dynamics
- Reflection and processing techniques
- Conflict resolution
- Playground mediation
Lessons will be delivered using:
- Video Clips
- Art, Reading, and Writing Activities
- Opportunities for Service-Learning Projects
- Large and Small Group Discussions
Ignite will also provide:
- Ongoing monthly consulting with on-site staff
- Ongoing monthly coaching and training to student Ambassadors
- Regular reflection and support
- Tools for classroom teachers to provide feedback
- Techniques to implement student and staff initiatives into the classroom
