Educators know the challenge of getting students off to a good start both
academically and socially. Nationally, over half of the incoming class
is not graduating from High School. Retaining students is a crucial concern.
Ignite provides opportunities for schools to create and support small learning
communities that positively impact your school culture and climate with
Student to Student Mentoring.
- Ignite teams up with your building, to train staff and upperclassmen,
every month to mentor the incoming students. Our model provides every
incoming student with a student mentor for their year of transition. Mentors
are trained in the art of facilitation and demonstrate mutual caring and
collective responsibility. Topics the mentors address range from Getting
Ahead Academically, to Making Right Choices and are age appropriate for
middle schools as well as jr & sr. high schools.
- Many schools choose to have their Ignite Coach support their Orientation
by Student Design program. Ignite has over 10 years experience supporting
schools across America with their mentoring needs—all targeted to begin
with that incoming student's first day on campus.
- One way to cultivate a successful first year in a new school is to
not only start the year with a student mentor, but to start that relationship
in the spring before the students come to the new environment. Through the
individualized Ignite Transitions program, your Ignite student mentors will
be trained and coached on how to facilitate activities and share during their
in-person visits with incoming students to assist them in preparing for their
next year. This type of articulation sets the stage for a successful future
and works as a springboard to a yearlong mentoring program. Ignite Transitions is
a great way to get students ready for a new year.
